96.3 ROCK RADIO HITS THE AIRWAVES

The GMG Radio owned station launched in spectacular Rock ‘n’ Roll fashion with a guest appearance from Scotland’s very own premier rock band, Nazareth.

The seventies hit band joined hundreds of guests and clients as Rod Stewart became the first voice to be heard on the station saying “Hi, this is Rod Stewart, I can’t tell you how much pleasure it gives me to welcome you to Scotland’s first Classic Rock station 96.3 Rock Radio, you’re in my heart, you’re in my soul Scotland so let’s rock!”

The station will showcase a large mix of classic rock hits from the last 40 years, from artists such as Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Simple Minds, Aerosmith, Pink Floyd, The Who and The Rolling Stones.

Broadcasting to over 800,000 adults across Renfrewshire, Glasgow and Dunbartonshire on FM and across the west of Scotland on D.A.B. 96.3 Rock Radio will continue to broadcast local news and content for the area from its new studios built within its sister station Real Radio.

From launch the station will be supported by a significant marketing campaign of bus backs across the region as well as audio adbikes around Paisley and the prominent shopping areas of Glasgow. Full liveried taxis will also travel around the transmission area for the next twelve months.

96.3 Rock Radio’s Managing Director, Billy Anderson said: “This is a very exciting day for GMG as a radio group, not only to be launching a new brand but to be bringing to Scotland its very own classic rock station. We will endeavour to provide an alternative listen whilst encompassing the key local news and information services for our listeners”.
